Chancellor’s Report

Dr. Ferrari began his report with a reminder that Fall Convocation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12 at 11 a.m. and invited all to attend and join in the reception afterwards.  The Chancellor reported that enrollment for Fall 2000 is up, both in numbers (7800 students) and in quality.  It is expected that applications will also rise in the future as TCU becomes more visible here and abroad.  The Conflict Resolution  policy, as reported by Stu Youngblood last spring has been adopted and Shari Barnes will be the TCU Conflict Resolution Facilitator.  At present, the Administration is studying options for the TCU Health Insurance coverage.

Unfinished Business

The Executive Committee will continue dialog concerning salary issues, namely salary compression.

Committee Reports

RIB Committee:  Roger Fisher, co-chair of the RIB Committee (as the Staff Assembly representative) was appointed as co-chair for a five year term.  He announced that health benefits were number one on the agenda for the RIB Committee this year.

John Weis, Human Resources, announced that Rebecca Tucker will be replacing Beth McLaughlin as the ESL instructor.  Human Resources is working on changing job descriptions from task related to skill level.  He also announced the Tuition Exchange Program at TCU has been approved and announcement has been sent to all Staff and Faculty.

Parking Committee:  Nancy Grieser, Chair of the Staff Assembly Ad Hoc Parking Committee reported that we could expect even more changes as enrollment and faculty and staff grow.  The University Parking Committee is now aware of the Staff Assembly committee and will hopefully include it in future decisions.

Announcements

Due to budget cuts, refreshments will be available at only some meetings of the Staff Assembly.

Presentations

The Staff Assembly  divided into groups of six to discuss matters of importance to the Assembly for the coming year.  The reports of these groups will be reviewed and will be used to set the agenda for the 2000-2001 Staff Assembly year.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45.
