The meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m. Minutes were read and approved.

Updates:  The rezoning of portions of Berry Street which was discussed at the last Staff Assembly Meeting and for which a letter of recommendation was signed by Assembly members was approved by the City Council of  Fort Worth according to an article in the Star-Telegram.

Chancellor’s Report

In the absence of  Chancellor Ferrari, John Weis reported on the decision of the Trustees concerning salary and retirement benefits.  Effective as of June 1, 2001, there will be a 3% pool for faculty and staff salary increases; a $1 million pool for faculty and staff compression and equity; and a 1% increase in the retirement contribution for nonexempt staff.

Program

Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Jim Wright spoke to us concerning the changes occurring around the campus of Texas Christian University.  In addition to nature changes, there are physical changes—old being replaced by the new.

Committee Reports

Community Service: Planning for next year—Score A Goal In The Classroom participation.

Election: Counting of the final ballots will take place April 17 and 23 at 2 p.m. in the Kelley Center.

Policy Review: Wendy Crowley, Chairperson, informed the Assembly that the Committee recommends forwarding the resolution currently before the Committee to next year’s Committee.

John Butler  distributed information and spoke briefly about the Inclusiveness Conference taking place on the TCU campus April 5-6, 2001.  Everyone was invited to participate.

Announcements

Plans are under way for the Campus-wide Staff Assembly Meeting to be held at the Kelley Center on May 1, 2001.
