The
meeting was called to order at 3:37 p.m. Minutes were read and approved as
written.
New
members of the Staff Assembly for 2001-2002 were introduced:
Ida Hernandez, Kathy Smith, Rafael Chavez, Tara Pope, Julie Graver,
Ireri Garcia, Christen O’Neal, Alice Carter, DeVonna Tinney, Debbie Mar, Pam
James, Mary Kaszynski, Victor Baeza, Kay Edmondson, Dennis Odom and Terri
Gartner.
Staff
Assembly has a voice in the solution of parking problems by having a member on
the Campus Parking Committee, Nancy Grieser.
At present, two possible solutions are being looked into:
expansion of the Shuttle Bus operation and expansion of existing
parking lots. Also, construction
of a Parking Garage on Princeton is scheduled to begin next year.
Susan
Oakley reported that the ESL program has a new teacher.
Carla Rodriguez will be teaching a class for employee and their
families.
Comments
of appreciation for changes and improvements on campus were voiced from the
audience. Also, the
administration was urged to continue to keep working on bringing salaries up
to levels comparable to similar institutions.
Dr.
Ferrari began his report by stating some of the many accomplishments of the
past academic year at TCU and thanking the Staff for all they contributed.
He then proceeded to list some of the goals for the future.
New Business
Pat
Jolley from Human Resources distributed a questionnaire concerning a Paid
Time-Off Program.
Election results were announced as follows:
Karen Baker – Chair-elect
Harriet Hunt – Secretary
Carlene Coover – Assistant Secretary
Bob
Seal stepped up as Chair of the Staff Assembly and will appoint the Parliamentarian.
This group will form the Executive Committee.
Bob
presented out-going Chairperson Jean Andrus with a gift of appreciation.
The
meeting was adjourned at 4:15 PM.
