The
meeting was called to order at 3:37 p.m.
Bob
Seal, Chairman of the Staff Assembly, welcomed the 2001-2002 Assembly.
After introducing the Executive Committee, Bob introduced Piper
Huddleston as the Skiff reporter to the Assembly.
The Executive Committee consists of Bob Seal, Chairman; Karen Baker,
Chair-elect; Harriet Hunt, Secretary; Carlene Coover, Assistant Secretary;
Milton Overton, Parliamentarian; and Nancy Carter, Historian.
Minutes
were read and approved as corrected.
The
agenda for the coming year was discussed and Bob asked that anyone having
items for the agenda, please submit them at least two weeks before the next
Staff Assembly meeting so that the Executive Committee will have time to
discuss the item prior to the meeting. Attendance
at Assembly meetings is very IMPORTANT, so if at all possible, please be at
all meetings. Also, talk to your
constituency…this is how they will be able to stay up-to-date.
Each Staff Assembly member is assigned to one committee and attendance
at these meetings is important, also.
The
Chancellor reminded us that Fall Convocation will be Thursday, September 6 at
11 a.m. and urged all to attend. After
a little over one week of school, enrollment (including undergraduate,
graduate and Brite) stands at 8,066.
Update
Mary
Lane brought us up-to-date on one of the Community Service Projects.
The Reading Bee of Fort Worth Independent School District needs
volunteers and there will be a meeting on September 5 in the
Bailey Building to discuss this.
Bob
Seal then urged all to attend the TCU Leaps on September 29 and help with
their projects.
John
Weis reported on the survey concerning Paid Time Off, and an Incentive Award
Program. Questions about paid
time off which couldn’t be answered are being worked on by Human Resources.
The Incentive Award Program would be University Wide and be meaningful but not
necessarily expensive. The Executive Committee appointed an Ad-Hoc Committee,
chaired by John Butler, which will look into the creation of an Incentive
Award Program.
The
Staff Award applications are in the Financial Aid Office and the Award is open
to all Staff who are attending TCU. In
addition to filling out the application, a FAFSA form must also be completed.
October 1 is the deadline for turning in the application.
Staff
Assembly Committees were announced and the group then broke up into committee
groups for sessions to contribute ideas for priorities for the Assembly.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
